Spelman alumna Nakaiya Turk, C’2012, is the host of Kandid Kaiya, a YouTube talk show that highlights millennial women on their different pathways to success. Nearly all of her videos feature Spelman women. As a career activist, Turk hopes that this show will empower young women to go after their dreams while providing them with the tips and skills necessary to WIN!
After graduating from Spelman with a mathematics degree, Turk began her professional career at Hewlett-Packard Enterprise as a data analyst and currently manages top global accounts for the company. Thus, not only is she a YouTube talk show host, but she is a young woman trailblazing through corporate America.
Turk is the definition of a Spelman woman committed to changing the world. She has been an active member of the alumnae association since graduation and currently serves as the Young Alumnae Chair for National Alumnae Association of Spelman College Atlanta Chapter. She is also a volunteer at Girls Inc., Marietta where she helps to further instill confidence and courage into young girls who are already “strong, smart, and bold!” Most importantly, her passion project, Kandid Kaiya, is one that truly contributes to promoting the platform of #blackgirlmagic.
At Spelman, I learned that this special sisterhood is the best network you can have. I love Spelman for extending my family in such a way; that it now includes thousands of black girls who truly rock!
The support I have received from my Spelman sisters in my career thus far is unmatched, and I am
forever grateful to be a part of a network filled with loving and encouraging relationships!
