Research
My research is in distributed artificial intelligence, autonomous agents and multi-agent systems, cognitive robotics, and bioinformatics. 
Teamwork Algorithms for Robots I am interested in developing theory and algorithms for robotic teams for lunar construction, search and rescue, and robotic soccer.
Multi-Agent Collaboration for AMD Subtype Classification I am working on developing algorithms and software for collaborative phenotyping for disease gene identification.
Ontology Learning I am interested in how intelligent agents can learn diverse ontologies within groups of agents.
My research philosophy is to investigate new theory and methods in artificial intelligence that can be applied to benefit humans. My research goals are to:
- Investigate how software or robotic agents (, or artificially intelligent entities) can represent, learn, and share knowledge even with diverse concept vocabularies, or ontologies.
- Investigate how software or robotics agents can autonomously work together as teams, or teamwork.
- Apply these new theories and methods in collaborative biomedical/bioinformatics research as well as assistive robotics applications.
