Interestingly and ironically, the first assignment “Recent Studies in Restoration & 18th Century Literature” was the most challenging yet most useful assignment.  The first assignment allowed me to gain an understanding of the important issues that were prevalent during the Restoration era, such as the status of female figures in literature and society.  Also, this assignment offered the perspectives of different authors from the Restoration era and their responses to the issues. Although I found it quite difficult at times to accurately comprehend the different scholar’s insight on the issues of the Restoration; however, as I had to reread several paragraphs over and over again to understand them, I feel that my comprehension, as well as my intellect, as strengthened.  As this assignment has strengthened my comprehension level and knowledge of the Restoration, I know that these specific areas could be improved.  With more readings similar to that of “Recent Studies in Restoration & 18th Century Literature”, I can greatly improve my critical thinking, become more familiar with issues of the Restoration era, and more importantly, enhance my transition into a scholar.

Although I have several weaknesses, I possess strengths also.  My main strength as a researcher is the ability and willingness to try different search mechanisms.  Also, I would consider my curiosity to be strength.  My curiosity leads me to further explore areas that I have previously searched or areas where I did not receive the quality or quantity of results that I would have preferred.  To my peers, I have researched a rather broad context; but, I narrowed it down a specific focus.  I chose to focus on feminine issues that were common during the Restoration era.  I have provided you with different types of information regarding the feminine gender.  In the manner that you would chose to explore the idea of supernaturalism or gender for your final essay on Alexander Pope’s The Rape of the Lock, I have supplied you with a great bibliography of sources that would be very helpful to you.  If you want to explore the attire of Restoration citizens, I have provided you with annotated bibliography of a website that offers terminology of the attire that was worn during the Restoration.  Lastly, if you are curious as to what type of issues existed during the Restoration, I have researched issues that were dominating during this specific era.
