Women were seen as objects of desire and perfection instead of understood as intellects. They were always supposed to embody poise and cosmetic precision.

I would like to begin by saying that I have actually found my investigations very interesting and have enjoyed doing the research of my particular topics.  I found out a lot about 18th century literature through reading and exploring different sources.  The most challenging assignment was definitely assignment one because I actually had to really understand what the critics were saying in their arguments because I had to explain that to my readers.  Sometimes the critic would be talking about three different books or articles.  If I did not read closely enough, I would miss the transition to another book or miss the synthesis between the readings.  The most useful assignment was the MLA and World Cat assignment because this assignment sharpened my skills for finding scholarly articles and also narrowing my search to the most relevant articles dealing with my topic.  The assignment has helped me as an English major, and will aid me in the precision of the works cited page for future assignments to come.
