Sequence with Delayed Math

The standard sequence calls for a student to start with Analysis I (Math 251) in the fall of her freshman year. Some students aren't able to do that, because they don't yet have the prerequisites. This page is for students who have placed into Precalculus (Math 115 or Math 116).

Essentially, you just march through the Math sequence, and take two Math courses your sophomore year. You also have to delay Physics to your junior year, because Analysis I and II are required for Physics I and II. To make room for Physics your junior year, you delay your CS electives until your senior year, and you give up two of your college-wide electives your senior year.

If you placed into Math 116, you're only one semester behind, so it's possible you can catch up and join the usual sequence. Alternatively, you can just follow these guidelines and take an extra elective your first year.

Here is the detailed sequence for those starting in Math 115.
