The Center for Leadership and Civic Engagement (LEADS) has joined this year to host Spelman’s second annual Women of Color Student Leadership Conference on March 29-30, 2008.

Spelman College is known for developing intellectual and ethical leaders among Black women. With this mission, it is only fitting that Spelman would bring together women of various minority groups to discuss the issues that face all of our communities. Women of color need a space they can call their own—a space where they can have dialogue and plan ways to help their communities. Spelman is that place.

Many issues that face Black women also affect women of all minority groups, and it is only by coming together in understanding that we can create positive change.

This dynamic conference seeks to incorporate all women of color, and strives to foster dialogues and new relationships between different communities of women. These women are African, African American, Asian, Caribbean, East Indian, European, Hispanic/Latina, Mixed Heritage, Native American, Pacific Islander and others.
