What about scholarships through Spelman?
Your application for admission is also your application for scholarships awarded by Spelman College. You do not need to complete a separate application for scholarship consideration by Spelman.
Please note that the Scholarship Office and the Office of Student Financial Services do not determine the recipients for first-year scholarship awards. The Office of Admissions determines which incoming first year students will receive merit scholarships from Spelman.
Where else should I be looking for scholarships?
Start with your high school guidance counselor. He or she may be a great resource for finding scholarships. Don’t forget to be on the look-out for scholarships within your community. Check with your high school’s alumni association, local historically black sorority and fraternity chapters, churches, Kiwanis Clubs, Junior Leagues, 100 Black Men and 100 Black Women chapters for local scholarship opportunities.
Also check with large companies or corporations headquartered in your home state/town as well as NFL, NBA, MLB, and Hockey teams in your home city/state if applicable. Don’t forget to look and apply for scholarships early and often. You typically need to be applying for scholarships at least six months before funds are needed.
Please contact Ms. Gardner, Scholarship Coordinator for questions regarding the scholarships listed at 404-270-5217 or via email at kgardne3@spelman.edu.
Current Spelman students should regularly check their Spelman email account, visit the Scholarship Office (first floor of Packard Hall) or follow the Scholarship Office on Twitter at SC_Scholarships for current scholarship opportunities.
