A Moment of Grace Interfaith Prayer Breakfast
The interfaith prayer breakfast includes participation from the various faith traditions represented on the campus of Spelman College. The Prayer breakfast constitutes a time of blessings and intercessory prayer that enables the entire college community to pause under the sovereignty of God to commence the academic year and to remember the tragedy of September 11.
Ramadan Iftar
Ramadan occurs in the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar. During this time, Muslims all over the world are in a complete fast as they devote to God and reflect on their spiritual journey. It is a time to strengthen community and family through the daily practoce of Iftar – breaking the fast when evening comes. Dr. Tatum and Sisters Chapel unite with the Muslim members of the Spelman community by hosting an Iftar at Reynolds Cottage.
Interfaith Hour
The interfaith hour provides an opportunity for faculty or staff to share information about their faith traditions to the Spelman community. The presentation is usually accompanied by a meal typically served in the faith tradition. The interfaith hour takes place on the third Monday of every month in the WISDOM Center.
Interfaith Worship Service
The interfaith worship service is an annual event of the Chapel honoring and celebrating the diverse faith traditions represented on campus. The worship service includes different names for God and the various practices of worship.
Bahá’í Unity Feast
The Unity Feast has been celebrated annually by Bahá’is since 1912. The purpose of the feast is to offer a glimpse into a future world where prejudice will not exist. It is symbolic of the potential of all people to live in friendship and unity. The Bahá’í Unity Feast is an annual event sponsored by Sisters Chapel in collaboration with the Spelman and greater Atlanta Bahá’í communities.
