1. When will the new residence hall open?
The new hall is scheduled to open Fall 2008
2. Who has priority in the new residence hall?
The new hall is designated for rising juniors and seniors. Rising sophomores will not be eligible for residency.
3. Are there any special organizations or special interest groups that can live in that dorm?
Not for the 2008-2009 academic year. We will inform the community-at-large as soon as more information is available.
4. Will the new residence hall cost more to live in than the traditional halls?
Yes. The following fees apply:
2 person suites-$3700 per semester/per student
3 person suites-$3500 per semester/per student
4 person suites-$3200 per semester/per student
5. Since the new residence hall has a kitchenette in each suite, is the meal plan mandatory? If so, what is the cost?
The kitchenette does not have a stove or oven. However, there is a full-size refrigerator, a microwave and a sink. Students will be unable to cook meals in their suites.
Additionally, according to paragraph 6 of the Housing Contract, students living on-campus are required to purchase a meal plan. The board fee for the 2008-2009 academic year is $3708.
6. Will there be any single "apartments" available?
There are no single room apartments. However, each suite has a single person bedroom.
7. When is the deadline to apply for the new residence hall?
The deadline to apply for all housing is 12 a.m. on March 31.
8. Is the lottery process the same for the new residence hall?
Yes. One hundred seventy-five numbers (175) will be reserved for rising seniors. The next one hundred fifty (150) numbers will be assigned to rising juniors. Remaining students, regardless of classification, will receive the remaining numbers.
