Volunteer Affiliations

West Manor Elementary School, Kate’s Club, Partnership at Domestic Violence, Junior Intern for Bonner Scholars Program and Senior Intern for Bonner Scholars Program

Passion

The volunteer activity that I was most passionate about was my freshman service site at West Manor Elementary. I worked with four little boys in grades 2-4. I really enjoyed working with them because they were extremely honest and kept me on my toes.

They were always in trouble, but I took it as a cry for help and attention. Therefore, that’s what I gave them -- non-stop attention. Due to this experience, I changed my mind to become a children’s advocate and a pediatrician. Also, I love traveling to different countries and seeing different cultures.

Personal

I am a 22 year old, biology major from Smyrna, Georgia. I have three brothers and I absolutely adore my parents. I have twin nieces and a nephew, which I spoil rotten. I came to Spelman because I received two scholarships from NAASC and Bonner Scholars Program. Also, I didn’t want to move too far from my family because they all live in Georgia. In my spare time, I love to cheerlead (Spelman College cheerleader), shop (I love Nine West), and enjoy hanging with my friends.

Pet Peeve

My pet peeves are people not being dependable and people who do not fulfill their community service.


Purpose

I hope to accomplish my goal of becoming a children’s advocate for healthcare rights as well as a pediatrician. Eventually, I want to open a non-profit organization -- a clinic for children in an under-privileged community.
