Transportation
AUC campus shuttle services, Atlanta's excellent mass transit, and Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport ensure that you can easily get where you need to go whether it is to a class across campus, to an internship in downtown Atlanta, or back home to visit family and friends.
Getting around Campus
The AUC Shuttle services the Woodruff Library, all of the Atlanta University Center institutions, three MARTA hub stations surrounding the AUC, and several student residential areas.
Getting around Atlanta
The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) provides convenient, safe, and economical rail and bus service to many locations within the metropolitan area. The Spelman campus is located just a short walk from a major MARTA rail hub, which also provides bus connections to surrounding neighborhoods.
Get-acquainted Ride Party
Each year, as a part of first-year student orientation, the Spelman Public Safety Department and MARTA sponsor a Get-acquainted Ride Party. It begins with a safety orientation to the system and a free ride to one of the city's most popular malls.
Discounted Monthly Ride Cards
Spelman supports the use of mass transit by making available discounted monthly ride cards to students and staff (available through Student Accounts).
MARTA Bus and Train Schedules
MARTA bus and train schedules are available in the Public Safety Office.
Catching a Flight
Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport is the second busiest air transportation hub in the world. This world-class facility is serviced by all major domestic airlines and is a true international hub with direct service to destinations worldwide.
You have several options for traveling between Spelman and the airport. Airport Shuttle and taxi services both come to our campus, and a MARTA train travels directly from a hub near campus to a convenient hub in the airport.
