Q: How long does the physical examination take?
A: We expect the examination will take approximately twenty-five (25) minutes.

Q: What should I wear?
A: Athletes are required to wear a short-sleeved shirt, shorts, and sneakers to the pre-participation examination.

Q: How involved is the examination?
A: You are not required to dis-robe; the examination is non-invasive.

Q: Is the examination fee refundable?
A: The examination fee is refundable should you not make the team.

Q: Am I allowed to take my pre-participation examination elsewhere?
A: Absolutely, however, you will still be required to have a consult with the Team Physician prior to try-outs. Dates on physicals cannot be older than six (6) months.

Q: If I had an injury prior to participating in athletics at Spelman do you provide assistive devices (e.g. braces, sleeves)?
A: The Department can not supply equipment for injuries incurred outside of participating for the Institution; we strongly recommend you bring any equipment needed for injuries.

Q: What is the purpose of the $65 examination fee?
A: This fee is a refundable fee required to ensure the prospective athlete is devoted and committed to participation for the entire sport season.

 Q: Why did the examination fee increase from $55 to $65 dollars?
A: The NCAA has mandated that all scholar-athletes have a mid-year examination/consultation which will cost an additional $10.

Q: Where should forms be forwarded?
A: All forms (e.g. biographical, student insurance, and medical history) must be sent via e-mail to the Forms link provided : Additionally, you will be required to bring a copy of all forms to the pre-participation examination. We recommend that you save a copy of all forms for your records.
