Speaker Series

Family Weekend speaker series presents information on a variety of topics such as Transgender Student Taskforce, Sexual Violence Education and Prevention, Personal Safety, Supporting the Whole Student, Upper Classmen Housing Process Changes and FERPA. These sessions will run every 30 minutes.

Keep Calm – Let’s Have Some Fun with Fitness!

Have some fun with fitness in a high-energy fitness class in our state-of-the art Wellness Center. Perfect opportunity for everyone to dance, move and have fun with uplifting, positive music that will get your heart pumping and your feet moving.

Salt City: A Techno Choreopoem by Jessica Care Moore

"Salt City" is an original music theater work by Detroit poet Jessica Care Moore and directed by Aku Kadogo. Salt City is an Afrofuturistic coming-of-age story of a young woman encountering love, time travel,and gentrification. Receiving a warm reception when first produced at Spelman in 2015 as part of Kadogo’s Visiting Professor Culminating Event, this year's performance is a more fully conceived project that is highly imaginative. Salt City is suitable for families.

Everyone is invited to an all-you-can-eat brunch buffet. Family members may purchase tickets at the door for $7 per person. The Spelman student should use her meal plan.
