Dear Students, Faculty, Staff, and Parents,
I am very sorry to inform you of the death of a Spelman student, Jasmine Lynn C’2012. Words cannot express the sadness I
feel about the tragic loss of Jasmine’s life, the result of senseless violence. Jasmine was an innocent bystander struck by gunfire early this morning in the vicinity of the CAU Commons. On behalf of the entire Spelman College community, I want to express our deepest sympathy to Jasmine’s family and friends. Our thoughts and prayers are with them at this time of grief. The Spelman College flag will be flown at half-mast today in Jasmine’s honor. We will share information regarding funeral services as soon as it is available.

Dear Spelman Community,
We are all saddened by the news of the death of sophomore Jasmine Lynn. The Division of Student Affairs joins with Spelman College in offering our prayers and support to Jasmine’s family and to the members of this community.
During this time, students and other community members may have questions or need assistance in processing their feelings regarding Jasmine’s death. Members of the Counseling Center and Sisters Chapel will be available to work with students who may need assistance.
There will be a campus memorial service for Jasmine. Details will be shared with the community at a later time.
There will be an informational meeting this morning at 11:00 a.m. in Sisters Chapel.
We are all certain to have many feelings regarding what has happened to our Spelman sister. Let us join together to offer our support, prayers and care to those who are affected by this tragedy.
