STEP UP CHALLENGE
We have just kicked off another exciting academic year here at Spelman! In August, we welcomed over 500 bright young women eager to begin their Spelman journey. We also welcomed back over 1,500 students following in the footsteps and legacy left by alumnae such as you.
We have all seen the impact the economy has on our way of living. Our students are faced with the same challenges, and are still searching for funding sources to help finance their Spelman education. In fact, many of our rising sophomores were unable to return because of lack of funding.
With the decreases in funding resources available to students, Spelman now more than ever relies heavily on the contributions from alumnae. Technological advances must keep progressing in order to attract top students, research opportunities must be competitive to attract and retain outstanding professors, revitalization of buildings must continue to be enhanced, and we must commit ourselves to supporting these needs. With your help, we can ensure that Spelman remains strong and continues to offer students the necessary skills and training needed to excel in their careers for years to come.
This fall we are issuing a challenge! We need 1,000 alumnae to be bold and STEP UP their support to Spelman College. All gifts alumnae contribute help shape and enhance the Spelman experience. As part of the Every Woman…Every Year! Campaign, the importance of a high alumnae participation rate could mean the difference from a major gift from corporations and foundations even in the current economy.
Your gift will directly impact our current students who need your support now more than ever! Over the next few months you will receive emails, letters and phone calls asking for a financial contribution to the College and we ask that you consider supporting your alma mater.
