Janna Perry, C'2018, Nabs First Place in 'I Rise' Contest
Janna Perry, C'2018, has been named the grand-prize winner in Beyonce's "I Rise for Self" contest. A 2014-2015 Girl Ambassador for Human Rights, Perry was among thousands to enter the contest. As part of her winnings, Perry received a Mac laptop computer, Beyonce's "Rise" perfume and other gifts. She plans to study mathematics and entertainment law.
Janna L. Perry is a first-year student at Spelman College. Hailing from Syracuse, New York, and being the first woman from her high school to attend Spelman, she plans to major in mathematics. Janna is also on the pre-law track. Graduating from Fayetteville-Manlius High School in June of 2014, Janna was in the National Honor Society, a member of the National Society for High School Scholars, and she graduated with mastery in mathematics.
Professionally, Janna plans to become an attorney with a focus in entertainment law. As an advocate for children’s rights, Janna has always been a voice for the voiceless. She wishes child abuse, neglect and poverty did not have room to exist so she’s spent her summers showing love and compassion to children between the ages of 2 and 5, with and without developmental disabilities, who live in poverty stricken communities. Janna was also an active member of Jack and Jill of America Inc., serving on the regional board for two consecutive years. In June of 2014, world-renowned superstar, Beyoncé, selected Janna to be the Grand Prize Winner of her “I RISE” campaign.
