Student Profiles: Stranjae Ivory
This summer, Stranjae Ivory, C'2015, did her part to help combat childhood obesity. Merging her passion to intern as a science and nutrition specialist, Ivory utilized her knowledge and skills while working with the First Start Learning Center, a child development program located in Elkridge and Rosedale, Md.
In partnership with the owner and founder of FSLC, the biology/premed major hosted weekly workshops with children ages 2 to 12, and created interactive and innovative lesson plans that included the importance of heart health and eating nutritious meals.
After covering several topics from the Healthy Kids Challenge Curriculum, Ivory also taught children the importance of maintaining healthy minds and bodies through nutrition, exercise and health awareness.
