Rising Junior Works to Remedy Injustice
Thanks to a special program designed to bring together international groups of university students and recent graduates, LaDarrien Gillette, C’2016, is spending her summer studying race and inequality in Paris, France.
A recipient of the Humanity in Action Fellowship
, Gillette will spend the entire month discussing minority groups that are deprived of civil and political rights. Designed to explore social and political roots of injustice, this intensive and interdisciplinary program explores national histories of discrimination and resistance, as well as examples of issues affecting different minority groups today. Featuring daily lectures and discussions with renowned academics, journalists, politicians and activists, the program includes site visits to government agencies, nonprofit and community organizations, museums and memorials.
