Student Profiles: Courtney King, C'2015
Courtney King, C'2015, recently spent an unforgettable two weeks in Ghana as part of the Spelman College CIEE Program. During her travels, King immersed herself in the Ghanaian culture while gaining a new perspective of Ghana and the African continent. While there, she was introduced to the native language of Twi, visited slave dungeons at Cape Coast Castle, conducted an elementary-level class at Future Leaders Underprivileged Care Center, and participated in a canopy walk-in the Kakum rain forest. She also attended guest lectures by professors at the University of Ghana in Legon on issues that included slavery, education and gender roles, the economic necessity of women and religious attitudes in Ghana.
