Dual degree mathematics and engineering major Shade Douglas, C'2016, has received a $25,000 Buick Achievers National Scholarship from the General Motors Foundation. The scholarship is awarded to high school seniors, graduates or current undergraduate students at four-year colleges or universities in the United States or Puerto Rico.
Students are selected based on academic achievement and financial need; participation and leadership in community and school activities; work experience; and interest in pursuing a career in the automotive or related industry. Special consideration is given to first-generation college, female, minority, military veteran or a dependent of military personnel. Recipients must maintain a 3.0 GPA in a full-time undergraduate program and continuing to major in an eligible field of study. The scholarship is renewable for up to three years or until a bachelor's degree is earned.
