As a Spelman College graduate, Ms. Osborne comes back to her former professor's class every year to teach new students about environmental racism. Her passion for fighting against environmental injustices developed after she lived in a small town in a part of Louisiana between Baton Rouge and New Orleans known as “Cancer Alley,” where chemical companies line the main road. Ms. Osborne now works for the National Wildlife Federation and volunteers with the West Atlanta Water Shed Alliance. By leading the WAWSA, she puts in countless hours helping minority communities in the Atlanta area.

Mr. Bryant started his college career at Fort Valley State University with a desire to become a nuclear engineer. During his summer internship in Nevada with the US Department of Energy, which had tested nuclear weapons, Native American protesters confronted him. He realized that indirectly he was contributing to the destruction of life. Now Mr. Bryant is the Pre-Awards Coordinator at Fort Valley State University and has dedicated his time to helping the people of the Woolfolk, Georgia, and the Superfund site in the center of community.
