ACT 1: Thursday, October 16

Arts and Entertainment Convocation: Behind the Scenes

11 a.m. – 12 p.m. | Sisters Chapel

On Thursday, Oct. 16, at 11 a.m., Spelman College will host a special arts and entertainment Homecoming convocation featuring a conversation with President Beverly Daniel Tatum and award-winning producer Alia Jones-Harvey, C'95.

Jones-Harvey is among a small group of Black producers and the only woman of color currently working as a lead producer on Broadway. She has produced plays such as "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof," "A Streetcar Named Desire," "The Trip to Bountiful," and "Romeo & Juliet" for Broadway. Spelman alumnae who currently work behind the scenes in film, television and theater will also be in the audience of the convocation, which is open to the public. These alumnae will be on campus through Friday, Oct. 17, as part of the Arts and Entertainment Summit, which consists of informative mentoring and networking sessions on producing, writing, directing, marketing, public relations, entertainment law and finance. Convocation will be held in Sisters Chapel.

'Hire Spelman' Career Expo

The career expo is back! For the second year, Spelman College is bringing together employers and job seekers at all levels for our “Hire Spelman” career expo! So polish your resume, brush up on your elevator speech, update your LinkedIn profile, and practice that award winning smile in preparation for this expo.

Home is Where the Art Is: A Homecoming Exhibition of Artworks by Alumnae, Students, Faculty and Staff

Because Homecoming is a time to revisit the past, to connect with the present and to share hopes for the future, the Department of Art & Art History at Spelman College is pleased to presents, Home is Where the Art Is: A Homecoming Exhibition of Artworks by Alumnae, Students, Faculty and Staff.   This exhibition, which includes a wide-range of materials and themes, showcases the creative talent that exists, not only in the Department of Art & Art History, but throughout the Spelman College community.   It is this ability to visually capture and explore human imaginings that has made our campus such a special place for more than a century.  Welcome home! 

ACT 2: Friday, October 17

Yoga in the Museum

10 a.m.– 11 a.m. | Museum of Fine Art | The Camille Olivia Hanks Cosby, Ed.D. Academic Center, First Floor

Look closely at works of art on view through the lens of balance, focus and strength. Then connect these ideas with a yoga class led by certified yoga instructor, Makeba Dixon-Hill, C’2003.

Alumnae Welcome Home Check-In

12 p.m. – 5 p.m. | Manley Center, Upper Concourse

Check-in for Homecoming 2014, receive your signature Homecoming 2014 souvenir, enjoy a delicious spread of healthy treats, and participate in various Homecoming events.

A Walk Down Spelman Lane

Whether you would enjoy a walk around the grounds of your beautiful alma mater, want to move to the beat during heart pumping aerobic exercises, or relax while doing Yoga in the Museum, join us for these Wellness Revolution activities. More details to follow.

Alumnae Welcome Home Reception

Join Spelman alumnae and Morehouse alumni for a special welcome home reception including interactive tours of the featured exhibition Brides of Anansi: Fiber and Contemporary Art, music, and more.

ACT 3: Saturday, October 18

Party with a Purpose: The Ultimate Spelman Alumnae Tailgate Experience

11 a.m. – 6 p.m.

This is the ULTIMATE Spelman alumnae tailgate experience! Join us in the alumnae networking lounge area for great food and fun and to receive your signature Homecoming 2014 souvenir.

Celebrate the success of Change. Means. Action.: The Campaign for Spelman College and make your Every Woman...Every Year! gift for fiscal year 2015. Enjoy kids’ entertainment, a free photo booth, a DJ spinning on the 1s & 2s, and more! You will not want to miss this!

ACT 4: Sunday, October 19

Spelman Sisters Worship Together

10 a.m. | Sisters Chapel

Before you go, let’s worship together. Rise and shine to experience our beloved historic Sisters Chapel and an inspiring message from Reverend LaKeesha Fonteneaux Walrond, Ph.D., C’93, executive pastor at First Corinthian Baptist Church in New York, New York.
