AUDREY FORBES MANLEY, M.D., MPH (C’55) – Academician, physician and public health professional; President Emerita of Spelman College, she was the eighth president, and the first alumna to serve in this capacity; Rear Admiral (Retired), United States Public Health Service; Former Acting Surgeon General of the United States.

MERCHURIA CHASE WILLIAMS (C’69) – President of the Georgia Association of Educators (GAE) for 2002 – 2004; Her career in education includes serving as coordinator of media services for the Atlanta Public Schools, a school library media specialist and classroom teacher.

A. TOY CALDWELL-COLBERT, Ph.D. (C’73) – Senior Research Associate with the American Council on Education’s Center for Advancement of Racial and Ethnic Equity; A board-certified clinical psychologist, her areas of professional and research expertise include anxiety disorders, adolescent adjustment and ethnic minority issues in clinical training and development; Member of the Spelman College Board of Trustees.

EVELYNN M. HAMMONDS, Ph.D. (C’76) – Professor of the History of Science and Afro American Studies at Harvard University, an appointment which made her the fourth Black woman tenured within the Faculty of Arts and Sciences.

LISA D. COOK, Ph.D. (C’86) -- National Fellow at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University; Research Fellow and Faculty at the Kennedy School of Government and Deputy Director, Africa Research at the Center for International Development at Harvard University; Member of the Spelman College Board of Trustees.

MARLA F. FREDERICK, Ph.D. (C'94) -- Assistant Professor of African and African American Studies and of the Study of Religion at Harvard University; Author of the book, Between Sundays: Black Women and Everyday Struggles of Faith, an ethnographic study of the role of religion in a southern rural community.

SAADIA CAVE BAKER (C'98) -- A teacher at Alonzo Herndon Elementary School located in Atlanta's inner-city Vine City community; Honored as the 2003-2004 Teacher of the Year and received the Perseverance Award (2003); Recipient of the Atlanta Public Schools National Board of Professional Teaching Standards scholarship.
