Lovette RussellLovette Twyman Russell, C'83, is a committed advocate for children’s causes. After earning her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Spelman College, Russell worked as a computer programmer for a small firm and then went into sales and marketing for the Xerox Corporation. She has been actively involved in fundraising for a number of charitable organizations including the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Talent Development Program and the YWCA’s “Open Your Purse” fundraiser. Russell was elected to Spelman's board of trustees in 2009.

Referred to as the “Balletic Legal Scholar” in the Boston University article “Secret Lives,” Spelman alumna Khiara M. Bridges can definitely be considered the quintessential Renaissance woman. After graduating in three years from Spelman as valedictorian, she went on to earn a Columbia Law School J.D. and a Ph.D., with distinction, in anthropology from Columbia University.

Lezli Harvell, C'2000, takes pride in her role as an example for her Spelman sisters.

"What speaks most to the impact of the Spelman experience is if alumnae are giving back. I can't expect others to give if I don't give," said Harvell, who along with her husband, Christopher, established the Dr. Lezli Levene Harvell Endowed Scholarship for International Students. "Because Spelman has such an important place in my life, I wanted to give more on a more regular basis."

Eniola Mafe, C’2007, whose Yoruba name means "someone of the wealth of God," was recently named one this year’s 99 most influential foreign policy leaders under the age of 33, or the “99 Under 33,” by the by Diplomatic Courier and Young Professionals in Foreign Policy. In 2011, the organizations  jointly launched the first ever Top 99 Under 33 Foreign Policy Leaders, a special project that captures the extraordinary impact that 99 diverse millennials under the age of 33 are making on international affairs.

Margaret Ottley, Ph.D., C'92, Helps U.S. Olympic Team Go for the Gold in London

“Sports has been my life,” said Dr. Margaret Ottley, one  of the industry’s most sought-after sport and performance  psychologists. An athlete herself, it’s no surprise she  works with the world’s most elite athletes, including the  U.S. track and field team who she worked with tirelessly to ensure they were prepared for the London 2012 Olympics.
