Virtual Help Desk: Tips & Tricks
Lab Tips & Tricks
- Secure your Network Login ID. You will
need to login with this ID when accessing
the Spelman network.
- This lab uses DeepFreeze to safeguard
its PCs. DeepFreeze does not allow for
downloading, saving or altering the contents
of the hard drive. Once the PC has been
rebooted, this application deletes all
files that you have saved to the hard drive.
- Always reboot the computer prior to
using it.
- Type only one line of information and
attempt to save to your floppy (i.e., the "A" drive).
If you are unable save to the "A" drive,
report the issue immediately.
- If you forget to attempt to save your
work at the start of your session and realize
that you are unable to save to the floppy
drive, save the document to the hard drive
and immediately email the document to your
Spelman account. (Note: You will need to
email the document, prior to rebooting
the PC.) Once you have received the email,
move to another computer and detach the
file to a floppy diskette.
- Save information to the floppy drive
at least every 5 to 10 minutes so you won't
lose your important documents.
- We recommend strongly that you do not
wait until the last day to finish your
projects!
