Account Information
1. What is my WebCT Username and Password?
Your WebCT username is the same as your Spelman email username and your password is the same as your Banner Web Id.

2. How to login to WebCT?
To Login to WebCT:

  1. Go to URL address http://webct.spelman.edu. The WebCT entry page appears.
  2. Click the Log in to WebCT link . The Login page appears.
  3. *Enter your Username and Password.
  4. Click the Login Button. Your myWebCT page will appear.

or

  1. From the Spelman Homepage, under Quick Links, click on the WebCT link. The WebCT Information page appears.
  2. Click the Login to WebCT link . The WebCT Login page will appear.
  3. *Enter your Username and Password.
  4. Click the Login button. Your myWebCT page will appear.

*Your WebCT username is the same as your Spelman email username and your password is the same as your Banner Web Id.

3. How to reset my WebCT password?
Your WebCT password is always the same as the banner web pin number. When the banner web pin is changed, the WebCT password is automatically changed.
To change your Banner password:

  1. Login to the Banner
    - From the Spelman Homepage, Under Student, click Web Check-In.
    - Click the Log on to the Spelman Online Student Services Site link. The Banner menu page appears.
  2. Click the Personal Information link.
  3. Click the Change your pin link.
    - Type your current PIN
    - Type the new PIN you want to use (New PIN must be 6 digits)
    - Type the new PIN a second time to verify the change
  4. Click the Change PIN button.

4. Can I access WebCT Off Campus?
Yes, you can access WebCT from any PC with an internet browser and access to the internet. The Login instructions are the same.

5. How to submit an assignment using the Assignment Tool?
To Submit an assignment, you will need to first upload the file from your computer to WebCT and then submit the file for grading. Follow steps below:

  1. From Assignments, click the assignment that you want to submit.
  2. To upload the file, under Student files, click Upload file.
  3. To locate the file, click the Browse button.
  4. Select the file. The Upload File for Assignment screen appears.
  5. Click the Upload button . The assignment file is added to the Student files table.
  6. Under Submit Assignment, click the Submit assignment button..
  7. Click the Submit assignment button. A confirmation screen appears.
  8. Click the Ok button. The Assignments screen appears, with Submitted displayed in the Status column.

6. What is a Discussion Board?
The Discussion Board is a asynchronous type of communication that allows everyone in the course to interact by posting and responding to messages.

7. How to view Discussion Board messages?
To view a Discussion Board message, choose one of the following options:

  1. To display all messages, both read and unread, click the All button.
  2. To display only new messages and messages that you have not read, click the Unread button .
  3. To display your messages by subject, click the Threaded button .
  4. To display your messages in chronological order, click the Unthreaded button .
  5. To view messages in another topic, from the Select topic drop-down list, select a topic and click the Go button.

8. How to view several messages at the same time?
To view several messages at the same time:

  1. From the Course Menu, click the Discussions link . The Discussions screen appears.
  2. In the Discussions table, click the topic containing the messages you want to compile.
  3. From the list of messages, select the messages to be compiled.
  4. Click Compile. The Compiled Messages screen appears displaying your compiled messages.

9. How to reply to a Discussion Board message?
To Reply to a message:

  1. Click the message subject name. The message appears.
  2. Click the Reply button . The Reply to Message window appears.
  3. In the Message text box, enter message.
  4. Click the Post button . The Discussion Messages screen appears.
  5. Click the Update listing button . If you don’t see your messages, next to Display, click the All button .

10. How to create a new Discussion Board message?
To post a new Discussion Board message :

  1. From your WebCT course homepage, click the Communication icon.
  2. Click the Discussion Board icon.
  3. In the table, click the name of the Topic for which you want to create message. The Discussion Messages screen appears.
  4. Click the Compose message button.
  5. In the Subject text box, enter Subject of message.
  6. In the Message text box, enter the message details.
  7. Click the Post button to post the message.
  8. Click the Update Listing button to view the message.

11. How to send an email in WebCT?
To send an email:

  1. From the Course Menu, click the Mail link. The Mail screen appears.
  2. Click the Compose message button . The Compose Mail Message screen appears.
  3. To add recipients, click the Browse button.
    - Click the names of the recipients (press the CTRL key while simultaneously clicking the names of each recipient)
    - Click the Select button
    - Click the Paste Records button.
  4. In the Subject text box, enter a subject for your message.
  5. Compose your message
  6. Click the Send button . The message is sent and a copy is placed in the Outbox folder.

12. How to view your course grades in WebCT?
If your instructor is using the WebCT Grade Tool, only then you will be able to view your grades.
- From your WebCT course homepage, click on the myGrades Tool. The grade listing page appears.

Troubleshooting Issues
13. I Enter my username and password but cannot access the myWebCT page.
If you are having issues with your username and/or password, review the following:

  1. The WebCT ID and password are case sensitive. The ID must be entered in all lower case letters.
  2. If you are using the numeric keypad to enter the password, make sure that the Num Lock is on.
  3. Try clearing the temporary Internet files (cache) in your web browser.
    -
    In Internet Explorer, click the Tools menu and select Internet Options.
    - On the General tab, click the Delete Files button.
