Life Insurance Life insurance offers you and your family important financial protection. Spelman provides a basic life insurance plan for eligible employees. Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) insurance provides protection in cases of serious injury or death resulting from an accident. AD&D insurance coverage is provided as part of the basic life insurance plan. Employees in the following employment classifications are eligible to participate in the life insurance plan: ü Regular full-time employees Eligible employees may participate in the life insurance plan subject to all terms and conditions of the agreement between Spelman and the insurance carrier. Our current plan provides 1 1/2 times base salary to beneficiaries upon death of a covered employee. Upon retirement (10 years of service and at least age 65) the benefits are reduced on a graduated scale as follows: Age Amount Less than 65 None 65 < 70 $8,250.00 70 < 75 $7,500.00 75 and over $6,500.00 Details of the basic life insurance plan including benefit amounts are described in the Summary Plan Description provided to eligible employees.
