Across the Disciplines and Around the Table: Rethinking Interdisciplinarity in Research and Teaching using Food as a Model
Purpose:
The purpose of this workshop is to encourage interdisciplinary research and teaching among faculty from UNCF institutions. Through presentations, workshops, discussions, readings, performances, and field trips attendees will learn how colleges and universities can integrate various disciplines through the study of food in order to provide a more meaningful and intellectually stimulating educational experience for students and a new area of research for scholars.

Application and Stipend InformationEmail a short curriculum vitae, including current contact information, and a one-two page statement indicating your intellectual and/or academic interests and the research or curricular development project you hope to produce as a result of participating in the symposium. Please be as specific as possible. Send these documents as PDFs to food2011@spelman.edu by April 18.
Each attendee will receive $250 per day stipend. Attendees coming from institutions 50 miles or more from Atlanta will receive pre-paid hotel accommodations and an additional $300 for travel. Applicants must come from UNCF institutions.
