Overview

The Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) is a service unit within the Division of Academic Affairs, Office of Research Resources. OSP provides faculty and administrative staff with guidance and technical assistance to identify, procure, and administer grant and contract funding in support of research, curriculum development, student research training, outreach and other departmental initiatives. Spelman College currently procures an annual average of $10 million in new and continuation funding from federal agencies, private foundations, and corporations, and has a current portfolio totaling $28 million.

The management of research grants, contracts and sponsored programs is conducted through cooperation between the academic, administrative, and financial divisions of the College. Pre-award and post-award services are provided to faculty to ensure that proposals are competitive, deliverables are achieved, expenditures are in compliance, and reports and project close-out is accurate and timely. Spelman College possesses the necessary management infrastructure, technology resources, human expertise and institutional commitment to support and expand its current research capabilities.
