Join Miguel Algarin, Co-Founder of the Nuyorican Poets Cafe NY,
in a free-wheeling conversation on poetry at Spelman College

Mr. Algarin is Professor Emeritus at Rutgers University. He is a poet, editor and theater producer. "The Nuyorican Poet's Cafe has been 37 years at the forefont of the artistic flavor of New York City." He continues to write and perform his poems, and nurture the spoken and written word.

Algarin says, "I come from a family where culture prevailed. My folks gave me a love of culture. So there is nothing surprising about Shakespeare being in my life. It would be surprising if he weren't. I work for him and he works for me. He wanted to have a place to tell the story of England; so I wanted to have a place in which to tell the story of the Lower East Side."
