Making a Global Difference: Health Careers Program Salutes

The Health Careers Program will host the "Georgia Dwelle, MD, Making a Global Difference in Healthcare Appreciation Week" Health Disparities Informational Fair, Monday, Sept. 30, through Friday, Oct. 4.
Featuring several Health Careers Program organizations, the week of activities honors Dr. Georgia Dwelle, C'1900, the first Spelman graduate to earn a medical degree.
The informational fair will highlight the importance of health awareness. Activities kick off Monday, Sept. 30, at 11:30 a.m. in the Upper Manley Student Center as students with the Global Brigades and the Society of Pre-Pharmacy Professionals present information to the campus community about HIV/AIDS and breast cancer.
Throughout the week, additional Health Careers program student organizations will present information about heart disease and diabetes on Tuesday, Oct. 1, and Wednesday, Oct. 2, in the Science Center lobby from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Activities culminate Friday, Oct. 4, in Upper Manley at 11:30 a.m., as students affiliated with different Health Careers Program organizations gather to present information about other health disparities and preventative measures.
