SpelBots in Japan Photo Gallery
With less
than a year of robotics training, SpelBots, the only
undergraduate, all-female team to win a coveted spot
in the International RoboCup competition, journeyed
to Osaka, Japan, to compete against some of the best
scientific and technical institutions in the world.
Students Aryen Moore-Alston, Brandy Kinlaw, Ebony Smith,
Karina Liles, Ebony O'Neal and Shinese Noble were welcomed
into the international robotics research community,
and earned the respect of many of the graduate students
who have studied robotics for years. The team was encouraged
by the chair of next year's event in Bremen, Germany,
to qualify and compete in the 2006 RoboCup. Dr. Andrew
Williams, faculty adviser, recognizes the SpelBots as
pioneers and role models well on their way to becoming
a world-class robotics and artificial intelligence team.
