Careers

The department is very proud of our placement of our graduates. Not only have all our students gotten jobs within a few months of graduation, but they are good jobs that they are pleased to get. Of course, the partly reflects the great demand for qualified IT professionals, as well as reflecting our students personal qualities, but we hope that we have done a good job preparing our students for these careers. In recent years, graduates of the Spelman College Computer Science Department have gotten jobs at:

• Consulting companies such as Andersen Consulting, Ernst & Young
• Investment banks such as Morgan Stanley Dean Witter, Goldman Sachs,and JPMorganChase
• High-tech companies such as IBM, Lucent and BellSouth.
• Other companies, such as Eli Lilly and Federal Express

Students have also decided to pursue other kinds of careers, so they have gone on to:

• Graduate School in Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Graphics, Music Technology, and others.
• Law school
• Medical School
• Teach for America and other teaching careers
• the armed forces (Air Force, Army, etc.)
