The research laboratory manager is responsible for providing valuable purchasing, travel, and management services to Spelman College Research faculty and staff.
Principal investigators who direct sponsored programs will need to obtain equipment, supplies, parts and services from the College and commercial sources to conduct their research projects.
The research laboratory manager's primary responsibility is to do the following:
Manage and reconcile Title III Budgets, NSF (National Sciences Foundation Grants) and various grants regarding requisitions on Banner, Travel Expense reports, check requests, Faculty/Student stipends and process invoices
Identify, research, and resolve problems relating to purchasing issues
Maintain the repairs and maintenance contracts on equipment
Work closely with the Core Lab Manager and the Shipping and Receiving Agent to reassure that all packages are registered in the Tracking Database in the Albro-Falconer-Manley Science Building
Process and reconcile Student Financial Support for the Spelman's campus community by providing funding for student travel
Additional duties include poster printing and Albro-Falconer-Manley Science Building Locker Registration.
All vendors contracting or selling goods and services to sponsored projects must have completed or have on file in Purchasing, a Vendor Profile/Business Status Certification/Registration Form prior to issuance of any purchase order or subcontract.
Individuals who are not licensed merchants or do not have a Federal Tax Identification Number are not permitted to receive purchase orders.
