Application Procedure

Application forms are available by download in Acrobat format (PDF), and MS Word format, or by calling Ms. Marlene McDew, Administrative Assistant, Spelman College Department of Art at (404) 270- 5455.

Fee

The cost of instruction, ground transportation in Panama, insurance, scheduled field trips, and room and board is $2500. Participants must pay for their airfare separately.

A non-refundable deposit of $250 is required to begin processing applications. We will begin accepting applications on February 1st with a final payment due no later than May 1st. Because of space limitations, we cannot guarantee reservations for late applications or payments.

Major credit cards are accepted.

Students and artists selected for the Spelman College Summer Art Colony must have a valid passport and a visa or toursit card. Painters should bring art materials with them since there are no art supplies stores in the village of Portobelo. Additionally, students should bring approximately $100 for incidental expenses. There are ATM machines available in Panama City and Sabanitas. There is no need to convert money since, US currency is used in Panama.
