The History Department Celebrates 'Herstory'
In honor of Women's History Month, the History Department proudly celebrates women who document history. On Wednesday, March 20, at 11 a.m., the History Club will present a "History Day" celebration in Upper Manley.
Later that evening at 6 p.m. in the Cosby Academic Center Auditorium, the department will host the "Herstory Independent Film Festival" that presents Cuban filmmaker Gloria Rolando's film, "1912: Voces para un Silencio/1912 Breaking the Silence," in three parts.
The documentary highlights the role of U.S. foreign policy in the Caribbean as it influenced political and social events in Cuba at the turn of the 20th century. The film will also be shown Monday, March 25, at 6 p.m. in the Cosby Auditorium. A brief discussion with Rolondo will follow the film on March 20 and March 25.
