Cherry Blossom Festival
This annual festival promotes interest in Japan and enhances the Japan Studies Program at Spelman through hands-on learning of Japanese culture.
Throughout the day’s events, Spelman students, faculty and staff, and volunteers from the Japanese American community conduct workshops on origami, ikebana (flower arrangement), basic Japanese expressions, calligraphy, karate, Mai (classical dance) performance, folk dance, and traditional Japanese toys.
The daylong campus event also features sushi-making demonstrations and samples.
