Personal Training

Training Programs Designed With You in Mind

Spelman College's personal training program is committed to helping you reach your fitness goals through individualized support and guidance. Our certified personal trainers provide you with an exercise program designed with your goals in mind. All levels and abilities -- from novice exercisers to those training for a specific fitness event -- are welcome to enroll.

Scheduling an Appointment

  • Register at the Wellness Center front desk
  • Submit Personal Training Application
  • Submit Waiver and Medical Release Form (PDF)
  • Note: Returning clients who have not had a personal training session for several months will need to complete a new form

Next Steps

  • Your application will reviewed by personal trainer
  • The trainer will call you and give you an appointment date and time

Session Guidelines

  • Sessions include cardiovascular exercises, muscle strengthening and endurance exercises and flexibility exercises.
  • Nutrition consultation sessions include discussing dietary habits and goals for intake based on nutritional needs and within the scope of practice of the nutrition practitioner.
  • Sessions only include matters within the scope of practice offered by the Fitness Center staff and their respective programs and services.
  • The Wellness Center staff reserves the right to make referrals rather than provide services to clients when issues exceed the scope of available services and/or the practitioner's scope of practice.


Personal Training Policies

Clients are matched with trainers based on availability, preferences, and goals provided on the application. The submission of an application does not guarantee a trainer will be assigned.

Clients will receive credit for any training session cancelled by the trainer, or those cancelled due to uncontrollable circumstances (i.e. severe weather, power outages), or personal emergencies.

Outside personal trainers or private, individual training sessions for a profit are strictly prohibited in the Wellness Center.

Cancellations and Rescheduling

  • A 24-hour advance notice is required to cancel or reschedule a training session
  • Failure to properly cancel or reschedule will be considered a “no show”
  • All “no show” sessions will be forfeited
  • Clients who are 15 minutes late will forfeit the session
  • Only two cancellations, schedule changes or no shows per person will be allowed each semester
