Dr. Romie Tribble is chair and professor of the economics department at Spelman College. A member of the Spelman community since 1984, he was associate provost of liberal arts and education from 1997-2002.
In 2002, he served as vice president of academic affairs at Johnson C. Smith University, a private liberal arts university in Charlotte, North Carolina, before returning to Spelman College. In 2013, he was elected president of the College’s faculty council and is co-director of the 2015 CIEE-Spelman Intercultural Engagement Program to Lisbon, Portugal.
The first African American to earn a doctorate in economics from Colorado State University, Tribble’s ongoing research interests are in international economics, economic development and the economics of globalization.
