ATLANTA (Aug. 15, 2012) -- The Spelman College Museum of Fine Art presents the exhibition “Material Girls: Contemporary Black Women Artists,” on view Sept. 6 through Dec. 1, 2012. The 32 pieces included in the exhibition explore the innovative ways that Black women artists fuse fine art and craft.

ATLANTA (July 5, 2012) -- Spelman College Social Justice Fellow Thekia Cheeseborough, C’2013, was recently named a Dalai Lama Fellow for the 2012-2013 academic year.

Women have been fighting for equal rights in sports stemming back to their exclusion from the first modern day Olympics in 1896. While today, many female athletes are celebrated and continue to make strides on the playing field, it’s at the executive round-table where women often face hurdles and need to fill more seats.

ATLANTA, (June 14, 2012) -- Spelman College has been selected to receive a four-year, $1 million grant from the Howard Hughes Medical Institute to support undergraduate science education, create more engaging science classes, bring real-world research experiences to students, and increase diversity among students who study science.
