ATLANTA (March 6, 2013) – For the ninth year, Spelman College will host its annual Leadership and Women of Color Conference featuring actress/entrepreneur Nicole Ari Parker and famed crisis communications expert/author Judy Smith -- the real-life inspiration for ABC’s hit series “Scandal” -- as two of its honorees and keynote speakers.

ATLANTA (Feb. 26, 2013) -- Spelman College Women's Research & Resource Center will host a viewing of the PBS documentary "ENDGAME: AIDS in Black America," followed by a panel discussion with leading HIV/AIDS experts Friday, March 1 at 5:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

ATLANTA (Feb. 18, 2013) --The High Museum of Art has named Andrea Barnwell Brownlee, Ph.D., C'93, director of the Spelman College Museum of Fine Art, the 2013 recipient of the David C. Driskell Prize. The Driskell Prize recognizes a scholar or artist in the beginning or middle of his or her career whose work makes an original and important contribution to the field of African American art or art history.

ATLANTA (Feb. 4, 2013) -- Professor, political analyst and author, Melissa Harris-Perry will discuss the personal and political effects of stereotypes on the lives of Black women when she lectures on the theme "More than a Vote: Women’s Struggle for Full Citizenship." Free and open to the public, her lecture takes place Feb. 21 at 6 p.m. in the Cosby Auditorium. Harris-Perry will also sign copies of her book.
