ATLANTA (April 5, 2011) On April 7, Spelman College will observe 130 years of educating women for leadership and service during its 2011 Founders Day celebration.

ATLANTA (April 1, 2011) The 7th annual film showcase features a social media panel Tuesday, April 12 at 7 p.m. at Twelve Hotel Centennial Park and a Spelman student film showcase Thursday, April 14 at 7 p.m. at Midtown Arts Cinema.

ATLANTA (March 25, 2011) A dedicated proponent of service and working with young people, first lady Michelle Obama is an example of how one woman can positively influence the world. On Sunday, May 15, at 3 p.m., at the Georgia International Convention Center, Mrs. Obama will inspire more than 550 graduates to also leave their mark on the world when she delivers the commencement address to the Spelman College class of 2011. Mrs. Obama will also receive an honorary degree.

ATLANTA (March 21, 2011) The Spelman College Women's Research and Resource Center will host the 11th Annual Toni Cade Scholar-Activism Conference, "Sister Scholars for Social Change," March 25-26, 2011, at Camille Hanks Cosby Center. The conference honors the scholar-activist legacy of Toni Cade Bambara (1939-1995), preeminent Black feminist writer/filmmaker/organizer, and features paper presentations, workshops and performance pieces that delve into dimensions of Black/African women’s lives, scholarship and social change activism.
