ATLANTA (March 7, 2012)The Eighth Annual Spelman College Leadership and Women of Color Conference will assemble notable thought leaders to discuss and define what it means for women to “lead with purpose.”

ATLANTA (February 16, 2012) Spelman College Museum of Fine Art and the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston have been selected to present the exhibition, “Cinema Remixed & Reloaded: Black Women Artists and the Moving Image Since 1970,” at the 11th Havana Biennial in Cuba in May 2012. The exhibition focuses on Black women and their diverse use of the contemporary medium of video art.

ATLANTA (Feb. 2, 2012) ─ Although Faith Ringgold is best known as the originator of the African-American story quilt revival that began in the 1970s, it is her pointed political paintings of the 1960s that are the focus of “American People, Black Light: Faith Ringgold’s Paintings of the 1960s,” on view at the Spelman College Museum of Fine Art from Feb. 2 through May 19, 2012.

ATLANTA (January 25, 2012) Got stuff? On Saturday, Feb. 4, Spelman College along with other Atlanta University Center Consortium institutions will happily collect it from you as they kickoff the 2012 RecycleMania tournament. The institutions will be collecting paper products, plastics, cans, cardboard, glass, cell phones and computer monitors at Spelman in the Milligan Parking Lot (Corner of Westview and Lee Street) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
