    Spelman and Morehouse Student Organizations Partner to Kick Off Annual AUC Pride Week

    ATLANTA (March 27, 2017) – For the fifth consecutive year, student organizations at Spelman College (Afrekete) and Morehouse College (Safe Space) are co-hosting a series of events during Atlanta University Center Pride Week, which kicked off March 26, 2017. Throughout the week, students will celebrate LGBTQIAA pride as well as uplift the various sexual orientations and gender identities of AUC students.

    Leadership Speaker Series Featured Speaker is Entrepreneur and Author Dr. William Pickard

    ATLANTA (March 21, 2017) – Spelman College will continue its Leadership Speaker Series with special guest William F. Pickard, Ph.D., author of "Millionaire Moves - Seven Proven Principles of Entrepreneurship," on Wednesday, March 22. During the conversation with Dr. Pickard, he will detail the highs and lows of his entrepreneurial evolution. Dr. Pickard is chairman of Global Automotive Alliance; co-managing partner, MGM Grand Detroit Casino; CEO, Bearwood Management Company; and co-owner of five Black-owned newspapers.

    Mario Berry Named Spelman College Chief Information Officer and Vice President

    ATLANTA (March 17, 2017) -- Mario Berry has been appointed vice president and chief information officer for Media and Information Technology at Spelman College, effective May 1, 2017. As CIO, Berry will provide leadership in building and supporting the College's information technology infrastructure and business processes in support of teaching and learning.

    ATLANTA (March 10, 2017) – NAFSA: Association of International Educators has awarded Spelman College the Senator Paul Simon Spotlight Award. True to the legacy of the late Senator Paul Simon of Illinois, for whom NAFSA’s Simon Awards are named, Spelman and the six additional colleges and universities selected demonstrate innovation and achievement in campus internationalization.

    March 8, 2017 (ATLANTA) — Spelman College was named among the nation’s colleges and universities that produced the most 2016-2017 Fulbright U.S. students. The Fulbright Program is the U.S. government’s flagship international educational exchange program. Top-producing institutions are highlighted annually in The Chronicle of Higher Education.
