EPA Toxics Release Inventory Regional Workshop

Saturday, March 5, 2016 | 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Spelman College will host the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Toxics Release Inventory (TRI) Regional Workshop on Saturday, March 5, 2016, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Attendees will learn how to use TRI data sources to protect communities and participate in dialogue facilitated by environmental justice scholars and experts. Topics to be discussed involve TRI data source, environmental justice screening and environmental community case studies.

Speakers Include:

  • Teresa Bettis, executive director, Center for Fair Housing of Mobile, Alabama
  • Dr. Robert Bullard, dean, Texas Southern University Barbara Jordan-Mickey Leland School of Public Affairs
  • Dr. Fatemeh Shafiei, associate professor and chair, Spelman College Department of Political Science
  • Dr. Beverly Wright, executive director, Dillard University Deep South Center for Environmental Justice

The goal of the Toxics Release Inventory (TRI) Regional Workshop is to educate communities, students, industry professionals, academicians, and public health officials on how to access and navigate the EPA TRI data source to improve environmental conditions and policies in environmental justice communities.​​
