ATLANTA (Dec. 6, 2013) -- Spelman College has appointed Ingrid Hayes Vice President for Enrollment Management effective Dec. 2, 2013. In this role, Hayes will provide strategic leadership for enrollment initiatives from student recruitment and matriculation to graduation. Formerly an associate vice president for Enrollment Management at the College, she has direct oversight of the offices of the registrar, admissions, financial aid and career development.
“I’m excited about my return to Spelman, where I will again be part of a community committed to preparing young women to become leaders and innovators in their chosen fields of study,” said Hayes. “My goal is to establish a division that leverages technology and professional best practices to recruit the most exceptional young women to Spelman College, and provide services and resources to support their successful matriculation.”
A seasoned and well-respected administrator, Hayes brings to the College more than 20 years of undergraduate admissions and enrollment management experience, as well as a proven track record of success. Throughout her career, she has consistently enhanced the quality of applicants, increased enrollment and improved admissions processes.
"In order to maintain our current strength in the higher education sector, it is critical to bring a strategic and well-coordinated approach to our recruitment, enrollment, and retention efforts through the Division of Enrollment Management,” said Spelman College President Beverly Daniel Tatum. “Ingrid Hayes brings the wonderful combination of broad experience from working at a diverse range of institutions and deep knowledge of the Spelman culture and our student population to this leadership role. I am delighted to welcome her back to Spelman.”
Hayes returns to the College after spending three years as assistant provost for Enrollment Services at the University of Alabama in Huntsville. In this position, she developed a five-year strategic plan for enrollment management, increased enrollment by 11 percent during her first year, and developed and executed a new student recruitment and communications plan.
Prior to working at the University of Alabama, Hayes served as associate vice president for Enrollment Management at Spelman and was responsible for new student admission and scholarship selection. She also had oversight of marketing for the admission's office, research, recruitment and technology upgrades.
Before joining Spelman, Hayes was director of Undergraduate Admission at Georgia Tech. Active in the National and Southern Associations for College Admission Counseling, she served two terms as an executive board member of the regional association and has served as a member of the National College Fair Committee. Hayes earned her bachelor’s degree in English Literature from DePauw University and a master's of science degree in Social Foundations of Education from Georgia State University.
Summing up her overarching goal for her new role, Hayes says, “I am committed to maintaining Spelman’s edge in an increasingly competitive college search environment, as well as helping families understand the value and relevance of a liberal arts education.”
