Black Womens Film Network at Spelman

A Cultural Celebration

The Black Women Film Network was founded by Spelman alumna Sheryl Gripper, C'72, in 1997 to increase the number of women of all cultures in the film industry and related areas. The organization seeks to preserve the voice of Black women and unheard parts of Black history through programs that empower and educate.

In honor of Women's History Month, the organization will host the Black Women Film Summit, a three-day cultural celebration of Black women in the arts and entertainment. The Summit will feature the inspiring "Untold Stories" luncheon, the annual Black Women Film Festival and a number of seminars and activities that will connect key industry players with aspiring entertainment professionals. Incorporating two signature BWFN events into one Summit weekend furthers the Network's mission to preserve the voice of black women in the arts.

The organization also provides scholarships to students who are actively pursuing a career in film, screenwriting or a related areas. Learn more at http://blackwomenfilmsummit.org/
