TOP EXECUTIVES DISCUSS WOMEN IN SPORTS MANAGEMENT
ATLANTA (Oct. 18, 2011) On Thursday, Oct. 20, Spelman College President Beverly Daniel Tatum will sit down with some of today’s most influential women in sports for a candid conversation on “Sports Management: New Frontier?” This discussion, the second installment of the conversation series “Innovation and the New Economy: Where do Black women fit?” will focus on opportunities for women in the male-dominated sports industry. Panelists will provide a unique perspective on what the future “playing field” might look like.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the unemployment rate among African-Americans reached a staggering 16.7 percent in August 2011. The “Innovation and the New Economy: Where do Black Women Fit?"” conversation series, brings thought leaders from various industries to the College to discuss the vital role of innovation in this challenging economy.

"If we have an African-American community in need of opportunities, it makes sense that Spelman would be talking about innovation. Those new ideas could very well come from our students and faculty."
